Gokyo Lakes
The Gokyo Lakes trek, a 115-kilometer adventure, offers a captivating alternative to the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek. While the view of Everest from Gokyo Lakes is more distant than from EBC, it's undeniably more majestic. The six high-altitude glacial lakes surrounding Gokyo enhance the region's breathtaking beauty, with the third lake, adjacent to Gokyo town, being the largest of the six. Unlike the crowded EBC route, the Gokyo Lakes trail offers a more peaceful experience with well-developed lodges at various points. Nestled at elevations ranging from 4,700 to 5,000 meters, this lake complex is the highest of its kind in a freshwater setting, making it a truly unique and unforgettable destination.
