A high-altitude lake located at 4200 m in West Garhwal, Saru Tal is a place of annual pilgrimage for locals in the region. The Saru Tal trek route is predominately a ridge walk over long meadow stretches, and offers enchanting views of the peaks of Gangotri at a distance, as well as Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Banderpoonch in close proximity. The local folk refer to Saru Tal as the fifth Dham alongside Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
